Saving surface assignment as preset

Hello!
I'm combining several surfaces into one using the Tool Settings / Geometry Editor.
I'm also fighting with TextureAtlas and a morph at the same time (there seem to be UV changes which I still need to investigate on), and I find myself doing the surface merging procedure over and over again.
I would therefore like to ask if it's possible to automate the process or save the newly created surface as a preset that I can easily apply to newly loaded characters (all of the same kind, for example, G2F).
I did try to save it using "Save As->Material Preset", but it didn't show up anywhere in my content library, and when I tried to open it (it was saved as a DUF file), DAZ told me there was an error opening it, so I guess I'm doing something substantially wrong.
Also, when I merge the surfaces, my model becomes transparent. Does anybody know why?
Thank you for any help!

First, which model/figure are you using and what is the goal you are trying to reach? (there may be an easier way)
Uh? I wrote all this in my post. :-)
Specifically in that screenshot...because if there are transparency maps on one surface and you combine that surface with others that don't need/have transparency maps, you could end up with results similar to what you show.
And, no, I don't see what your goal is, because you don't explain why you want to combine all these surfaces and what you hope to accomplish by combining them...other than a new preset.
As to the new 'preset', no there is no way to save it. You would need to save a new figure (you don't want save over your base G2F, for example). The information that you are wanting to edit istied to the figure as a whole and is saved with the figure.
