Got a new laptop and now I get errors

So, my motherboard on my old laptop failed and I had to replace it with a new on. After getting everything installed and transfered over to the new one I started having some odd issues with trying to open saved scene files. It's not restricted to newer or older files, 3DS or Iray... it's a mix of everything that's getting this.
The error I get when I try to open the DS files tells me "An error occurred while reading the file, see the log file for more details."
And the log file gives this:
2017-09-07 00:27:14.777 *** Scene Cleared ***
2017-09-07 00:27:14.857 D:/Users/chell/Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/My Library/Scenes/Shadowrun-ITD/Bull New.duf (1,1): Syntax error - expected '{' or '['
2017-09-07 00:27:14.858 Error reading file, see log for more details.
Anyone out there have any clues?

That would look like a bad file - you can uncompress the files with the Batch Convert pane in DS, or with a tool like 7Zip, and see if they stay in text throughout or breakdown into gibberish. It may be worth trying to rstore, to a new location, from your back-up to see if that gives a clean copy.
Thanks for the info Richard, I'll try that and see what I get. I'll keep my fingers crcossed, but not get my hopes up. LOL
Just one question now, where does Batch Convert save the file off to?
Same place, it replaces the compressed file with an uncompressed file (or vice versa).
I get a load of those style error messages trying to load some HDRIs
As I thought would be the case, it didn't do anything. I tried 7zip too, but for a lot of them I get the message that they're not valid archives and for the others, when it opens, the file inside is completely blank. I did open a good file to see what I should be seeing and so far, nothing. I think I just have to accept the fact that they're lost. Thanks for the help though, it was worth a try.
