What Should be in my Daz3D: Studio: My Library
Hello, um. I was wondering if there was anyone who could help me? I'm trying to do a project for school with Daz 3D and Maya. But I have run across multiple problems in learning how to export my Daz model into Maya. The main problem I have found is that the content in my Daz3D folder doesn't appear to have everything it should have. I don't know what other files are missing nor do I know what to do if I am missing some important ones. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

What seems to be missing?
That is a difficult question to answer generically, Glory. Most content consists of multiple files that are stored in different folders, often with a type of "control" (not really called that) file that collects all the necessary pieces when a model is loaded. Different content will contain different numbers and types of such files. There is a sort of standardization in terms of what sort of files are stored in which standardized folders, assuming the content creator has packaged the content correctly. The issue is somewhat further complicated by the fact that DAZ Studio has a set of standard folders for storing various types of content and/or elements of a given model, but there is also a folder structure beginning with the Runtime folder in your library that houses numerous Poser standard folders. So what goes where can depend upon whether the content is in DAZ Studio format or Poser format. More information regarding what seems to be missing as Richard has suggested, or what particular content you are attempting to transfer would help.
1. Check what content folder(s) Daz Studio is using:
press F2, select "Content" and "Content directory manager" at the bottom. The "Daz Studio formats" is the one you are probably looking for,
Having only one there helps a lot to avoid confusion.
The "data" subfolder in you content directory hold the more technical stuff like the meshes and morphs.
The rest represents more or less what you see in your content library tab.
2. Make shure that the Install Manager is using the same directory. (the little gear icon at the top right / Installation)
3. For exporting to Maya, make shure only the figure(s) you want to export from you Scene are visible (Scene Tab, the little "eye" icons) and select "File-Export".
I am not familiar with Maya, but for Blender i.e. I simply export as obj.
Ususally you don't need to take care about where your content is. If it loads without errors to Daz Studio, you are fine to export it.
