Files could not be found after update - Rarestone face morphs for G8F

After updating RareStones Face Morphs for G8F, a number of morph dials went missing for characters who used the morphs.
As far as I can tell, the files were renamed between the prior version and the current version, and that's why Daz could not locate the assets.
- Looking at the error message, it says I'm missing files like "/morphs/rarestone/rfmc/face length.dsf".
- Looking at the actual (updated) directory, I have a file called, "/morphs/rarestone/rfmc/RFMC_Face Length.dsf".
If you could avoid renaming files during updates, that would be appreciated.
If this was an intentional renaming, then it would be good to know so that I can fix all the errors that will be popping up whenever I use figures with these morph dials.
If it wasn't intentional, then I'll be SOL with that work until everything is renamed to the old naming convention... but I still need to know that so that I don't work on fixing all the errors only to have it produce more errors in the future when the files are re-renamed.
Comments
The renaming was intentional, since DAZ3D requires that morphs have the PA name somewhere in them, in some form.
So, since this was intended, how do I fix my figures or am I SOL?
Renaming the morph files to the old name in order to get the numbers & transfer them back to the new morphs (which I strongly feel that I should not have to do, but I am forced to do so)... this has not worked.
All I get are the new morph names with 0.0%, even if I've deleted or renamed files.
Is there a way to go downlevel with an install pacakge? I just want to extract numbers so that I can go back in and backfill the "correct" morphs with the numbers.
It's not very amusing to have hours of work (days if you include rendering) go up in flames because of a policy issue, but I am avoiding those types of comments.
I still have a copy with the old morphs (for some reason the update didn't correctly uninstall the old files). If you don't mind sharing your work file, I can screenshot the slider positions for you.
The reason morphs have to have PAs name in them is to avoid multiple PAs ending up using the same morph name and it causing conflicts for the end user, I believe. So in the long run, the annoyance is probably worth it, but a heads up would definitely have been appreciated since it has such a large effect on existing files, I'm with you there.
Deleted the duplicate post. ~Mod
Thanks!
I believe I have an earlier stage setup saved as a "scene" (about 1.5 MB due to the saved autofit stuff).
I do know the name of the RareStone morphs in question, which should speed the effort along.
If I can find a good filesharing method, I'll send a PM with the details.
Thanks again.
...but apparently went ahead and released a product where that requirement wasn't met. Chalk one up for the QA department... ????
That was my thought as well...
I don't know where QA/testing was in this situation, and it's not entirely comforting to have QA/test coming at a situation after a product release & in a way that can invalidate users' work.
I understand if I mess something up, it's on me and not the company's duty to address... but this does not seem to be my issue (i.e. a problem of my own creation). Despite that, I and others have to find a way to circumvent the problem at hand.
Yes, QA is imperfect, but who has to deal with the imperfection? In this case, it's the end user. I'm not sure that's "right".
Anyway, that's my $0.02 and I'm trying not to deliberately nuke my limited standing on this forum at this time (maybe at some other time in the future), so I'll leave it at that.
