DAZ Studio 4.5 Pro locks up

Hi everyone!

Being new to DAZ and to this site, I hope I can find out what I am doing wrong in order to use my recent DAZ Studio. I recently downloaded DAZ Studio 4.5 Pro to my new computer. I have the Windows 8 version. Upon setting up everything, and then opening the program, I could not do much of anything before it would freeze up and then I would have to close it out using Task Manager. Is there something I am missing? What would cause the freeze up?

Hoping for a solution,
Ter

Also have you updated your Graphics card drivers recently, not via Windows Update but from AMD (ATI) directly?

Well I haven't updated any drivers as of yet because I just bought the computer two weeks ago. I'm still installing a lot of my programs onto the computer. I was slightly under the impression that the drivers would be up to date. But I will check that out. I just don't get it though. The program I downloaded is not a new program. The computer is. Why would I have to upgrade anything? Just wondering. :P

The same reason as why a new computer has a ton of Windows Updates to do as the people who made the machines will use stock drivers and some machines might have been preassembled prior to the drivers been updated. I have had it with every computer I have purchased even when a new OS has just come out with anew model of laptop. We aren't saying that it is the drivers or the Graphics card but it could be. Plus it is always advisable to keep upto date with GC drivers.

Ah, that makes sense! Thanks! I wasn't trying to be ignorant of updating, just thought it was odd that an older program couldn't run on a newer computer. LOL As we speak, drivers need to be updated! LOL Thanks for your comment! Much appreciated!

I didn't take it that way but I know what you mean when I got my first computerI had to update the GC drivers to play a game, I thought as you did.
