While looking around the dragon cave site I saw some ads for Daz3d. Is that a safe site?

Totally safe for you, but may be a danger to your Credit Card. Mine rends to run and hide when the site has sales on.

Today's Complaint: Up all night with that Insom fella, finally ran them off and got to bed. Even turned the phone off. All nice an snoozzing to get jolted awake by what sounded like someone trying to break my door down. Was the County Sheriff hunting one of the local Thief/Drug/Freaks who seems to have a warrant out on them. Not here I say, never has been here I say and sure you can look for yourself if you like. He didn't.
So back to bed I lumber to suddenly hear my next door neighbor crank up what sounds like a large prop airplane to spend the last hour plus cutting his grass with, his yard is not even that big for crying out loud.

And of course I'm now wide awake once again. Just not my day.

    Gah, I'm sorry.

The only cure I've found for insomnia is two things: 1. no caffeine after noon (I have a low tolerance for it), and 2. roleplaying on AIM 'til after midnight. Sadly one can't do that every single night, sometimes one has to work late. :D And having a job you like doesn't help because your brain wants to chase after it in circles thinking of things to do while you lie there.

As near as I can tell the other things they tell you, like don't read in bed and don't be on the computer just before bed, are nonsense. Sometimes I sleep better if I look at cute animal pictures on Youtube for ten minutes before I turn in, and reading helps turn the brain away from the work stuff.

Not murdering your neighbors is pretty important, though, so I don't see what one can do about them.

...same here, Sickle Yield's Morphs are on sale, 3DU just released another toon cutie (who looks more like a slightly grown up version of Sadie than Jasmin & Amy), and Howie released yet another beautiful set for Carrara where my little winged fey could play..

Are these things what they call "mesh lights"? Or is that something else. I'd love to be able to make a lamp glow by making it a light, things like that. I just don't know what I need to do that. Not only in DS, but in Poser...as I also have PoserPro 2010. I've only used that once, but it was a pleasant experience actually. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

...here's a good tutorial by Szark that explains it better than I can. I'm still somewhat new at all thus UE/US stuff myself since I never had a system that could support rendering with it without crashing until now.

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/14536/

Thank you, I'll check it out.

    Dana

There should be a method for controlling occlusion (on for example hair) with surrounding geometry somewhere then, look for a "fantom" section that implements renderman specs, should be there 'cos uber in a renderman context means a process that exposes most/all available shading methods :)
There is, but I've never tried it. The cool thing about UberArea lights is that they are applied as a shader to a mesh, so potentially any mesh can become a light emitter. The area lights come with several preloads with meshes already set up for use.
In Dark Carnival all the light bulbs in the scene have the UberAreaLight shader applied, so each light bulb is emitting light.

Cool, thanks. I look forward to trying that out!

Anyhoo, a test render using one of the HDRs (Converted to an EXR with Cinema4D's Picture Viewer, as the exporter doesn't support HDRs ><)</div>

That almost looks like some abstract Christmas decoration!

Try graham crackers with peanut butter and Fluff! That's my invention, a graham cracker Fluff'r'nutter. A little messy (especially the way I overdo it), but oh, so yummy!

We were out of chocolate chips. :D Normally I would spread peanut butter on the graham crackers and then sprinkle chocolate chips on them. What's Fluff, is it like marshmallow cream?

Yes, only better than the others. I've been told that by several people who have tried them both, relatives who've moved away and couldn't find Fluff in their area, so tried the other kinds.

    Marshmallow Full
