Rendering skin

I'm finding it impossible to render good skin textures, they always come out noisey even when using the noise filter , I keep trying adjusting the rener settings in optimizition and other settings but still keep getting grainy and noisey renders, using iray render engine, I also have some skin optimization products for iray renders from daz, but again keep getting grainy/noisey skin renders, everyhing else in the scene seems not to bad, just the models skin.

I used models 8, 7 and 6, getting the same results.

Any help on render settings would be most welcome, Thank you.

Adjust the Exposure Value (EV) in the tone mapping setting in the Render tab to be a lower value but like real photography has noise in dark shadow areas so too does DAZ Studio renders.

  • Thanks very much, will give it a go.

    Sorry,

but in real photography you don't have noise, unless your ASA is way too high.
In iRay all shadow or indirect lighted areas are very noisy until you are above 99.5% of real convergement (what ever that should mean) and over 1000 iterations. Especially for skin using translucency.
So you have to be patient (even if it lasts over 10 hours). wink
