Question related to rendering and object visibility.

This might be a strange question, but I'm super curious about it.

If you have four figures on the stage and make one invisible by turning off the figure's visiblity, will rendering still be affected by the invisible figure?

By that I mean, will rendering with four figures and one invisible be the same as rendering only three figures? Or does that invisible figure still affect it and slow it down?

I've disable 'Visible in Render' and I'm hoping that excludes the figure completely and it renders as fast as it would if the figure was deleted.

Does anyone know? Thank you all for your help!

I'm pretty sure that's the case in 3Delight, not sure about Iray Photoreal mode.

In Iray the invisible figure won't impact the render memory usage or speed per se, since the geometry won't be loaded. The figure will affect the lighting from the perspective of shadows and reflection.

I'm not sure I follow -- how is the figure affecting lighting if it isn't being loaded?

You'll have to ask Nvidia. This has come up before in the forum. I certainly may be mis-remembering the various discussions. I don't have a handy example since i don't put things in the scene that I don't want rendered. The closest I get is havening a light in the camera view range that I set as invisible/not visible in render/ render emiiter off
