Iray Preset for Skin

Hello all,
Is it possible to make Iray skin value setting presets without the texture maps? so it can be applied to any of the same base character with different textures? I tried. I set up M7 with my own setting values removed the texture maps making a shader preset then put M7 in the scene applied the shader preset and he turned white.
Thanks

Yes - though you need to bear in mind that different figures will use different maps, so you may not always get the desired results. When saving your preset (which you can do with the maps still applied) click the option menu button part way down the right edge of the options dialogue and you should be able to tell the prset to save only values, not maps (among other things).
Thanks Richard,
How does one create the texture maps for translucency, transmitted, glossy, top coat etc? i use gimp for bumps and normals.
I'm not sure that you can "create" them from existing maps by a simple recipe.
sorry, i probably mean convert the color map to these maps. how is it done? most likely an image editor. are there tuts explaining the process in conversion to a transmittance map and the science behind it? thanks
You don't convert the color/diffuse map. Each of these maps serve a different purpose so they have to made the hard way, one (set) at a time. Translucency Weight maps defines the amount of light that enters and bounced bak out from the skin. Translucency Color is of the tonal value for the light bounced back, here you can often get by with just the diffuse maps and setting the color option to a very pale peach. Specular sets the amount of light bounced off the surface of the skin, natural oily skin areas will bounce more therefore the maps need to be lighter in those areas.
Thanks. I get it. it's all about the light and photons.
