Removing shader and iray textures so I can add my own?????

I have textures I made and want to apply to some of the items that have shaders and/or iray loaded on them when they load in the scene. How to I get anything to just a base no textures in order to apply my textures?

I simply Make sahder preset with plane (or what you need),
1. load plane.
2. apply iray default shader preset, (which daz offered)
3 save as shader preset. must check all image texture which you hope to remove, (check on)
4 apply it on to selected all surfaces which you want to reset.
5 once you apply the shader, for any figure, you can save it as default non texture iray mat preset too .
Everything has a shader - are you just wanting to remove maps, or do you want to set an initial state for the properties?
Then if you hope to remove texture only, when save shader preset, just check about all textures. (non texture). but not include (check off) other setting, then you can remove textures only. which you hope to remove, but keep other setting value of original. (use option when save shader preset, uncheck all value, but check textues only)
I do not test with mat preset, then I do not know same way will work about mat preset. I just use those shader presets for my purpose. it work about all mat(at least I use iray mat)
Thanks Kitakoredaz.
Richard I am trying to remove textures from items, props and clothes alike, by going through the surfaces tabs. In many cases lately, there are so many things that have shaders and SSS and the rest added that it's a real pain to get anything to a state of just plain old grey, so I can add my own textures. It's an issue if I want to make textures that I can give out but can't completely remove what is originally there, so I worry about copyright infringement.
Sorry for the long delay in answering, I only get online once a week when I go to the local college.
