Elizabeth and Rebekah from V8 bundle render completely black in iray

I recently purchased V8 Pro bundle and I have a problem with Elizabeth and Rebekah characters from said bundle. In texture mode they look fine, but when I switch to iray, they render completely black. Some parts are pink-ish, I guess from SSS and that's fine, but the skin itself seems to have no color. V8 on the other hand renders completely fine. I should mention that I've bought Kiara for V8 separately and she also renders fine.

I'm testing this in an completely empty scene with no props apart from the character - not even clothing/hair. I've even tried restarting Daz and the PC but to no avail.

Some technical info if it helps: unfortunately I still render on CPU only (Intel 4790k) because I'm running on AMD R380 graphics card. At first I thought it had something to do with the "HD" in the character's name, since my graphics card has only 2GB of RAM, but a) I'm not even rendering on the GPU, b) Kiara works ok, c) other than the character there is nothing else in the scene. I have 16GB of RAM.

I've attached a very quick render of Elizabeth that demonstrates the problem. Any ideas?

Exactly which version of DS - Help>About Daz studio will give you the full number.

Looks like there is no map in translucency! You will need to either plug the SSS from these two character into translucency node or plug the diffuse map into it laugh

Did you load V8 then load the two characters? It would kind of make sense because V8's skin shaders different than the G8 ones

Hmm, I checked in the surfaces pane, they seem to be here - did a quick comparison with base V8 (which renders fine), they seem to be the same - base color image/map is applied, so is the translucency color, dual lobe specular weight (whatever that is hehe), base/normal maps... Even tried pluging in different maps to some of the nodes (thought some of them may be corrupted somehow) but nothing helped.

If you mean did I load base V8 into the scene and then applied Elizabeth "over" it (by selecting V8 in the scene, loading Elizabeth and choosing "Apply this Character..."), the answer is no - I loaded Elizabeth (and Rebekah) directly via the Content Library (the scene was completely empty so nothing could even be selected at that point).

    Hmm Interesting!

Could you post a screenshot of a specific surface (say face) settings? I could try and have a look and see if I can recreate the same thing :D

Oh my... I was just about to post what you asked for when I found out what was happening! I had the "Draw Mode" in the "Drawing" section of "Draw Settings" set to "Interactive". When I set the it to "Photoreal", the issue was resolved.

I'm not exactly sure what this settings does on a technical level - I presume interactive is faster but lower quality. I also tried to render while changing the "Render Mode" in "Render Settings" and it's the same - a character render with "Interactive" is all black, while "Photoreal" renders fine.

It's probably a newbie mistake but it's interesting how it affected only these two characters, the other ones work in "Interactive".

    Thanks for the responses :)
