daz3d collada in blender

hello there members,

i exported daz content (.dae format) with default settings(all morphs datas checked, except combine morphs option) and imported into blender program. models and armatures loaded properly but i couldnt find any morphs in there.  arent they supposed to be shape keys in blender? or blender itself wont read morph data in collada even in generic form?

It seems the collada importer does not import shapekeys, though I didn't test it extensively. But you can use fbx instead, or the nice daz importer from Thomas Larsson. These work fine.

Collada can not import morphs as shape key (animatable parameter)  in blender,  with blender official collada import add on (importer).  though  most of them are baked.  we need to use another importer plug in. One famous and (I often have used )  plug in for collada is   Khalibloo Panel.

it use script then import moprhs to blender. after you export character.

Then  FBX can import morprhs   if the actor wear clothing (fit to) , each auto generated moprhs will be imported as shape key too.  (you need to carefully check ,which moprh you hope to import)

But unfortunatley, about both main fomats have some sensitive problem when import characters to blender with rig.   though it can not be clear shown, when you import character wihtou many ERC moprhs and compared each.  It not only about Blender importer, but actually I think it is exporter problem of DAZ too.

The reason is,  DAZ use unique ERC system, which can link other parameter,  and node positon, node scale as same as node pose parameter.  which can offer complex hieralchical morphs.  but when export those mesh, it may lost some important information, to keep same shape and scale. Most of importer not take account, those ERC morphs value.
