You will need to explain what you mean and maybe show some screenshots of what you are trying to do. If you're working in Daz Studio, the figures normally come in without hair, so the scalp is exposed, but not sure what you mean by "expose".
I mean when you add any hair to the genesis base.

What are you wanting to do though?
I want see the map files to control in another app.
If you open the Surfaces pane and, with the hair selected, go to the Editor tab and find the Scalp material you can click on it to show its properties - if you hover over the micro thumbnail to the left of a property you will get a larger thumbnail of the image with the full name adn path at the top; you can also click on the thumbnail, select browse.., and have a file dialogue open to the folder containing the image.
Scalp material doesn't pop up. Should my content installation be affecting this?
It may be it doesn't have a surface named scalp, in which case you may have to try other surface names under the hair.
Thanks for the tip!
One more thing, how might this be scripted, meaning combining the steps to locate the folder that contains the hair / scalp files? Python?
DS doesn't use Python, it's scripting language is in the same family as Javascript. But yes, that should be scriptable if I understand what you are aiming for.
