Different Perspectives in IRay

I've noticed sometimes when rendering in IRay that the apparent size of objects is different. Items will appear larger render than unrendered. A lot of the time they seem wider. It's a matter of perspective. Sometimes I can just go in and change one of the scale dials on the item(s) other times I can't. Some I can parent to a Null in the scene and change the one scale dial. Other objects, figures in particular, can become distorted and twisted trying to do that.
I'm wondering if there is something I can do to the Camera settings to help with this.

Do you view the scene through the camera before you render?
Yes, I do all of my work with a camera before rendering through that same camera. I only use other views to verify details occasionally.
I haven't seen that so I don't think I have more to offer.
