Collision iterations and render time?

Recently through trial and error with render setting I've noticed the purpose of collision iterations. I really like the Sporty Ponytail hairstyle, but I've noticed the hair deforms when you change the model's expression.

Then I realized the problem is resolved when I increase the collision iterations and it works great! My only question is, does render time increase when you increase the collision iterations? I think my renders have been taking MUCH longer after changing that value and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere on the web about this.

Answers greatly appreciated! :D

AFAIK collision detection is done before rendering, so as long as it has completed before you start rendering it shouldn't affect render times.

oh I see. Awesome! I was worried I've been wasting time by setting the value too high. Thank you very much!
