How to get rid of "out of the box" lights

I recently bought an interior environment and it came with lighting but i can't find any in the scene. How can I get rid of the lights it came with and install my own?

They are likely emissive surfaces so you need  to use the Surface Select tool to select every bright glowing surface and turn off emissions in the Surface pane

Oh okay. I think I can figure that out :) Thank you :)

If you toggle the preview lighting (with <ctrl>-L) off and on, you'll see the emissive surfaces glowing while the rest of the scene is black, that should make it easier to find them all.

Thanks SpottedKitty, I tried to do what Jestmasrt said last night. I selected a wall with the surface select tool, went to the surface tab, clicked on the drop down of that surface, went to Emissive and the color was black 0.00 0.00 0.00 I clicked the drop down menu and selected none. But the emissive color stayed that same. I don't think this had much effect on the lighting. Am I doing it wrong?

If the emissive colour is black then its not giving off any light.

I would try selecting the the strip light and seeing if any of the surface have a emissive setting - the colour will need to be anything but black.

There is an excellent product in the Daz Store that will find all Emissive surfaces and allow you to change their properties or just turn them off. It is called Iray Light Manager Pro. It can save you a ton of time trying to adjust lighting in a scene.

Something for my wish list that is not clothes or hair - but is more valuable!  thank you!!
