Renderer Won't Change

Hello.

I'm using Daz 4.9 (for future readers).  When I set the renderer to Basic or Intermediate GL from either IRAY or 3Delight the rendering popup says I'm still using the IRAY or 3Delight renderer even though the Render Settings show the mode I want to be in.

Things I've Tried

Hit refresh just for the heck of it.  I looked for a progress bar to see if I'm spot rendering before the new setting can kick in (there is none).  Restarted the program with same gen 2  actor.  Same result.  Restarted with generic gen 2 model.  Same result.  Tried gen 3 model.  Same result.  Removed my render preset (while saying 'wow, I have a render preset.') .  Same result.  Tried regular rendering.  IRAY and 3Delight work.  Open gl caused DAZ to crash.  Including error log thing. Checked nvidia drivers.  They're old.  Really really really really don't want to update drivers.  Every time I do God kills a puppy.

Oh and this could be nothing but my render settings always seem to change the resolution of my render jpg back to an old value when I start up scenes.  I'm guessing its a config issue and I've got a save that works so I don't care about that unless its related to this.

Also, IRAY hasn't worked since the new logo a few days back.  It just makes an empty image.  Other video quarks that make me think it may be my 2014 drivers.  But again, I don't want to change my video card drivers unless I absolutely have to.  If anyone can offer any other solution it would be great.

Save the puppies.  Give me another solution!!!!!!

You definitely need newer drivers for Iray to work. You also need an Nvidia card that supports CUDA cores, otherwise you will use CPU rendering, which is superslow in Iray

Hi again.  Just updated my nvidia drivers.  So far so good.  My card has 384 CUDA cores.  Hope that'll pass.  IRAY  shows nothing still.  Spot Renderer still renders in 3Delight no matter what its set to.  I'm getting the creepy no iris thing in intermediate gl now (wasn't before the update) but I can see the irises in 3Delight.    I did a clean install of my video drivers so all the settings went away.   So I'm not too concerned about minor stuff like eyeballs at this point.

I don't know jack about anything yet but fifteen minutes at zero percent may not be the same thing as me.  You might just be rendering really really really really slowly.  I'm getting to the end jpg and its empty.   But I do like having new drivers.  My Empyrion game jumped like ten frames a second.

I let it render for 4 hours and its still at 0 percent :(

If you have a complicate scene and a card with few CUDA cores (~<1000) or are cpu rendering, 15 minutes at zero percent isn't unreasonable.
