Can I remove the _hexadecimal soup from my username?

Can I remove the _hexadecimal soup from my username? It's gotta be annoying to type out. I've seen a few users sporting similar, but most accounts I see don't. I've poked through the profile page, but haven't found any way to change one's username.

Click on the gears top right , click on the user name to go to your profile, click on the gears and choose edit.
