Missing files (except they're there...)

Hello,
I'm introuble and I'm begging for help: a couple of months ago, i had to format my pc and once i reinstalled daz with its content, almost none of my saved files work. It says that some files are missing and gives me back the adress of every single missing file. I went to check if files were misplaced but it turned out that they're just where they should. Why can't daz see them? What am I missing? Thanks in advance

What is the full path to the files? I think, though, that the issue is that you saved with nested content directories - it should, in the relative path in the errro, start with the Data folder not the My Daz 3d Library folder - if the My Daz 3D Library folder was inside another folder also set as a content directory that could well have confused the system.
Full path to the files: D:\Daz\My DAZ 3D Library It was like this before formatting and it's like this now.
I suspect you previous had the Daz folder selected as a content directory too. Doing that - as you've found - can cause issues. The ideal fix would be to use a text editor to check and if necessary remove the my%20daz%203d%library\ from the paths in the saved files - you'd need to uncompress them first, using the batch Convert pane or an archive tool (working on copies, of course).
I'm not sure I uderstood what you mean. First things first: how do i check the path via text editor? will notepad work? Thanks in advance.
You need to decompress the files first, otherwise they will just be gibberish. Notepad may still be odd - it used not to cope well with soem files (depending on how the end of line was marked) and had size limits but it has been enhanced. If you have an archiving tool (such as 7Zip) make a copyt of one of the bad files, right-click on it, and select 7Zip>Extract here (or the equialent), then open that file in your text editor and search for
my%20daz%203d%20library
(the %20 bits are the spaces - they get convrted into hex codes, as do other characters, in saving). If you don't find any (assuming I've written the text down correctly) then my guess is wrong, if you do try replacing
my%20daz%203d%20library
with nothing (leave the replae with box empty) throughout the file, save, and see if that will load correctly (you may need to edit the file name to add the .duf extension back in order for DS to recognise it).
to decompress a daz studio file, just simply add .zip at the end of the filename (with file extentions shown) so it would be something like myfile.dsf.zip or myfile.duf.zip then extract the file out of the zip (It will have the exact name as the original) which you can then right click and open with notepad
Studio has a batch convert built in. No need to using external utility and have to change extensions. To the OP could you show a sceen shot of your Content Directory Manager with Studio and Poser Formats expanded.
Hello everybody,
Thanks for your support but in the end it was enough to set the daz folder as content directory. Thanks a lot.
Doing that is simply going to perpetuate the problem, your newly saved files will also be affected, and there's a risk in future that the nested content directory will cause other issues.
You haven't fixed anything, you have just taken a virtual sledge hammer to the problem so it will break again.
