Saving Eyes...?

I modified the eyes on a character by removing the maps and using my own colour sets. For consistency I'd like to be able to apply the same eyes to other characters.

What is the best way to save a set of eyes?   I've just spent an hour googling and searching the forum,but I still can'tfigure this one out.

You could save as a Material Preset -  Uncheck everything except the parts that relate to eyes
