Hi,

I purchased DZFire's Real Metals for DAZ Studio (http://www.daz3d.com/real-metals-for-daz-studio) and it appears to be missing the bonus tutorial that is referenced in the "What's included" section. I partially purchased this for the training aspect of it not just for the shaders. As a DS newbie, I want to learn as much as I can :). Does someone know where I could find info on how to use these items? There is also a reference to a tutorial called 'Rendering Photorealistic METALS in DAZ Studio,' which I was unable to locate. Thank you in advance for any guidance you might provide.

Check in your ReadMe folder in the DS content folder you installed the item too.

EDIT: Most PDF's and other ReadMe's do not show in the Content tabs in DS. You need to Browse to them on your PC yourself.

    Hi @Jaderall,

Thank you, I found it. I feel pretty silly :red: that would be an obvious place to look :) Your help is greatly appreciated!

I just purchased this also, but I can't seem to find the content in DS after installing it. I confirmed it installed correctly and all of the items are physically present in the actual folder, but within DS I can't find what category it is located under (i.e. Figures, Poses, etc.). It is not under the shaders category pre-installed in DS. I have spent hours searching ever category tab, and all of the items in my inventory, since most things install with a folder title that doesn't give you a clue what the content is. I am at a loss here. I've never used shaders before so I'm not sure where to find them within DS and my common sense and research has lead me to a brick wall. Can anyone help?

I don't own them so I can't give specifics, but if you supplied the name of the folder that they installed to that would help narrow it down. If they don't show up in the Smart Content then it's likely they don't have metadata so will probably appear only in the Content Library. In my own runtime I actually have three of these folders, because different shaders often like to create their own folder to save to. These are Shaders, Shader Presets (where the majority go), and Shader.

If you browse to those folders in your content library it might found in one of the folders there. Bear in mind that sometimes it takes a few moments for the item list to populate as it reads the hard drive.

Hi there and thank you so much for answering! I am still up all these hours later trying to figure it out because it's driving me crazy. You see, I can find all of the contents, including the metadata installed in the actual windows folders. The problem is I can't find it in my smart content anywhere. I've tried EVERY concieivable folder, including the three shaders folders you mentiond. It simply doesn't make sense. I've had items install in strange places before that required some effort to find them, but I've always been able to. I've even uninstalled and re-installed this product multiple times. I thought maybe shaders installed differently or had to be accessed in a different manner since I've been having so much trouble. The documentation doesn't include anything about special installation requirements, and I'm assuming that's because there aren't any. I'm at a complete loss and probably should give it up for now :/ I appreciate you trying to help!

You should be looking in the Content Library rather than the Smart Content pane.

    Try either:
Daz Studio Formats -> My Library -> Shader
Daz Studio Formats -> My Library -> Shaders
Daz Studio Formats -> My Library -> Shader Presets

What is the directory they're installed in? That will tell you where to find them in the Content Library pane.

Content Library Pane (NOT SMART CONTENT) My Library\Daz Studio Formats\Shaders\DzFire\RealMetals the first part may be different for you all the way up until Daz Studio formats.

They don't show in the main Smart Content Window however if you look in the Surface Pane and Hit the Preset button at the top of the Surfaces pane you will find them under Preset > Shader > Simple Surface > Real Metals for Daz Studio

An alternate method is you can also try looking in the Content Library pane under the "Products" category (products are listed alphabetically there). Not all products will be listed, but many (most?) are. I occasionally check here when I have lost pieces of a product within my own categorization method. Once located there, you can right-click the content thumbnail and categorize to see where it is and/or move it.

What exactly is the tutorial geared towards? How to make your own shader mixer shaders, non-shader-mixer shaders, how to best use the shaders in the product to best effect in the scene, etc?

If you install a product with DIM, it will show up in Products even if it doesn't come with metadata. If you install manually, it won't.
