Hugely distorted morph applied to a base model

I do apologize if this has been covered before, but it's something I can't wrap my head around conceptually...

I downloaded Hitomi, a Genesis figure. I've been interested in doing some anime style work and, well... best choice for the task. Now, why can't I make a Genesis 8 figure with, say, a Hitomi head? Or, maybe I want to make a real-world character with big, anime eyes... or something. I'm assuming that there's some sort of hard limitations and parameters programmed into the base Genesis 8 figure to prevent this, but is there a way around it? Why can't I make a Genesis 8 figure the same shape as what's made available with Hitomi?

I've attempted to try using Dforms, but that doesn't really work, either.

Someone could make a Hitomi style shape for Genesis 8 female, though that kind of work would need to be done in an external modelling or sculpting application and there'd be adjustments to the rigging required.

Morphs are specific to the 3D mesh they where created for.  Morphs move the vertices of the mesh so the vertex number and order of the morph must match that of the mesh.

So... if someone creates a given 3D mesh, he/she decides the maximums and minimums of the morphs... yes?

There's sooooooo much to learn. cool

A morph just chnages the positions of the vertices that define the shape - it's not something the original creator has control over.

  • Using one of the transfer methods which are discussed here in the forums you can get the most older shapes into Genesis 8, the results will be at least rather similar. I add a quick render to show what you can expect. I transferred only the Head and there were already two translations on the way; Genesis to G3 via the GenX product, and then the G3F to G8F method by Redz. So the eye area is not perfect - I guess there would be even better results if someone will create a Genesis clone for G8F.

The Hitomi Headmorph is rather helpful smiley - here is a new collegue at the office; there are rumours she is a princess from Scotland and has some experience in archery.
