Why can't I see my figure when I hide my lights?

I'm still pretty new to Daz, but when I hide the lights in my scene, it goes completely dark. I understand I've hidden the light source but why doesn't it go back to the way it looked before I added any lights? The reason I ask this is because sometimes, I want to change a small feature and its in a dark area of my scene, so I can't see it. I have to literally delete the lights to be able to see what I need to pose or move, then I have to add them back. Is there any way I can just click the "eye" to turn them off and return to the base light that shows everything? Then I can just turn the lights back on and proceed?

Is there a chart that one can print with all the DS keyboard shortcuts?
