The Forum 'Search' function needs a serious update!

Unless there's some kind of 'Advanced Search' button I've missed, the present so-called 'Search' function is a joke in poor taste. Example: try a search on 'file size' and you (eventually) get a list of every post that contains either 'file' or 'size.'

What??? No phrase search, or filters of any kind??? This isn't rocket science, and it isn't 1986 any more. How much could it cost to add it?

And the situation can only get worse as the forums grow and grow and...

[ Edit: it's even worse. I just noticed the results include 'sizes' and 'files'. ]

Change it to use google, that will give you a lot more flexibility, and way better results. See my DS site in my signature, and use the "CHANGE FORUM SEARCH TO GOOGLE" script.

Well, thank you, Ati! It shouldn't be necessary, but until someone at DAZ 3D implements an Advanced Search function I'll be using Google per your script.

    Bravo! smiley

Yeah, it's pretty sad when you have to fall back on Google for a search funciton.  Search functions in most other forums allow you to sort for relevance, by date, by author, etc. but the Daz search function simply seems to default to the most recent posts that have the term you are searching for in them, with no way to sort your search options.  So yeah, I end up grumbling if the search doesn't have what I'm looking for in the first few posts and kick myself for not just googling in the first place.

Sure, Google has a pretty powerful AI behind it's search function that helps it sort results, but the Daz search should at least have a PHPBB or similar level of search functionality.

Add this to the request list of things fot the Daz team to consider improvements for...
