Exporting COLADA models

I have a question with exporting models in the COLADA format- Is it possible to include morphs in them? Because if there is, I haven't been able to figure it out.

  • Never tried but if you enabled the "Animation" option and check the "Morph" option and it still does not work ?

  • Not sure how I'd go about doing that.

  • Okay, so I tried it and I imported the model into Blender, for some reason the morphs aren't showing up.

    Today I almost spend my time, to check import and export collada in blender, with compare dufs,,,^^;

    then I have never seen, collada can show morph as Shape key in blender.

    all morph will be baked.  but At current I found clear scale problem about collada when export from DS. with shape controller which tweak node scale

    (not adjust rig center and end point, but directly change node scale,,)

     then trying way to remove problem.

    Are there actuall aprication, which can keep current scale in ds as collada, even though I use Controller which change node scale?

    If not, I hope DAZ to up-date Collada exporter. FBX not show this problem.. but DS collada exporter ignore, controlled scale value, I think.

    or I need to export it as animation?  but if so,, it not work for rest pose rig. and mesh.

    I think you have to tick the "Animation" check box when you go to export it. However there's a catch to it- it increases the filesize tenfold.

    I attempted to experiment this with a few models. The file sizes often exceed 100MB and getting them into Blender is next to impossible as the models become unusable, and unviewable, in the 3D viewport. The picture included in the post is an example of when I try to import one of those models into Blender (file was exceeding 266MB).

    @philmister

    if you check animation, DS export all frame which you set in current scene timeline I believe, (so that is animation,,with valeus of rotation and translation,scale on each frame)

    but the shape controll sclale may not exported as animation. I think. it only work when you adjust scale value manually. if animation can keep each controller value, it will work.

    but I do not think so. (ef it can do,, export collada without animation, should export, contrller scale value, (eg arm shape controller which tweak bendarm node scale, , or head propogation scale, change each face node scale,,)  I have not succeed to import those scaled shape in blender as collada. then actually I think, most of collada importer plugin can not manage ,DS controller modified scale value...  (though I do not know, there is already more smart importer for DS export collada files.)

    it may not be shown clear. because, we usually not tweak those shape controller scale parameter, much, but if you mix use them, you may see, the shape is not same what Ihave seen in DS. if you compare with OBJ, it show clear difference. (OBJ can export mesh, waht we see in ds, if mesh is modifed, obj modifed too)  but about rig, there is no way about collada. I think.
