    I think there are one or two sets of prop letters, or you could add the text as an image to a primitive plane or cube.

    Thanks for the input Richard, certainly worth persuing. What I am trying to achieve is a short explanation about the content of each render. I guess it may have to end up on a separate page in the final publication.

    You can always pull the render into an image editing program if you don't want to use a separate page.

    Depending on the style you're after, this: http://plasq.com/apps/comiclife/macwin/features-galore/ is probably one of the easiest ways to add text to images. The publishers give you 30 days to try it out—quite generous these days—and it's only $30 if you decide to buy.
