Do I need Collada?

I have been looking around at all the free 3D software that is available. So far I have: DAZ3d,Hexagon,Bryce,Sculptris and Blender. I was looking at Collada and am not sure if this is something that I need or could use. Anybody have any knowledge about Collada and can tell me if I should get this as well. Not sure if this is the forum where I should me asking this question but everybody here is so nice and helpful. If not oh well. Thanx for any help!!!;-)

    Collada is a file format (.DAE), and DAZ Studio can export in that format, as well as FBX and OBJ as well.

    If you Google it, you can find out all the ins and outs, but it is not a software package, simply a file format.
