    Hi everyone!

My most recent image is a composite. I couldn't get the render to complete without crashing--so I rendered each piece individually and then assembled and post-worked it in photoshop.

This is beautiful!  The lighting is really gorgeous!

Oooh!  Heck yeah!  That's great, Stormlyght !

Great postwork.  Is that the emissive hair shaders?

  • StormlyghtStormlyght Posts: 666

    Hi,

@IceDragonArt thank you! The lighting was all done in post-work.

@Dracorn thank you! I didn't use the emissive hair shaders, it was all postwork. In fact, I didn't know there were emissive hair shader until you mentioned them. I was so excited that you mentioned them. I added them to my wishlist smiley

    Hi,

I decided to get Zelara. She is a little different from what I generally render but I really like how she turned out. I used high key lighting and her default settings.

Well done. I like the over-saturated backlighting.  Great color scheme.  The title premise is funny, too.

Love the high key lighting, you did a a great job with it.  Beautiful!

Thank you @IceDragonArt! This render was a departure from my more saturated, moody renders. I didn't even do post-work on it which is highly unusual for me. I love tweaking things even if it's just adjusting the lighting.

Well, you know me, I love postwork too but sometimes there are pieces that just don't need it.  This is definitely one of them.

    Hi,

I use @Marshian Iray Rim lighting rig in almost every render I do now. I'm worried that they will all start looking the same because of it blush.

@IceDragonArt , @Worlds_Edge and @Knittingmommy ... I admire all of you and your work, your compliments on the render mean a lot. Thank you.

    Trish

    Awe, thank you.

    Hi,

Here's my most recent render using Karyssa 8, dForce clothing and @EcVh0 dForce material presets. Karyssa is really cute although I did dial out her head morph to about 60%. This particular image took a long time to accomplish because even my weekends this month haven't allowed me much render and post-work time.

    Electromancer

This one is very cool. I love how the water looks and all the symbols and special effects.

I decided to try Genesis 2 Female materials on Genesis 8. I used Cayman Studios Legacy UV product and @V3Digitimes Iray Smart Converter product. I really like how it turned out. You can view the gallery image to see a complete list of items used or click on the image below to see the full size version of it. Thank you for visiting!

I love the lighting here. Nice colors. Very well done.

Hi @knittingmommy! Thank you for the compliments. The first two had very little postwork but the last one was a composited image.

On a side note, I think I'm going to go back to canvases and render out beauty and light group passes and composite my images. That technique seems to use less computer resources, allows more control over lighting and doesn't cause my system to crash.

That souinds like a great idea I wish I had photoshop but I have Gimp and still learning about it right now.

I do not have a lot of time right now because I am curently rasing my 3 grandbabies who have special needs, but I try to spend some time on my rendering and postworks.

    Hi @Saphirewild!

I don't know much about Gimp's capabilities in working with .EXR files but there are other software applications that will process this type of file and cost a lot less than a Photoshop subscription. Of course, you can't beat free so I hope Gimp will meet your post-processing needs.

I've never tried canvases - how do you use them in your postwork?

The newest version of Gimp will read the .exr files. I used them in Gimp all this year in the beta version. That version is now out as a general release as Gimp 2.10.

Lovely work in this thread! The angelic figure is eye catching, certainly worth the crashes you had to endure!

I left areas on her face intentionally blurry as I tried out some different DOF camera settings. What do you think? Thank you for visiting!

Image of Genesis 8 with Alieta Spryte materials

I ADORE the DOF on both sides. That can be a very tricky thing to do, nicely done!!!! One shoulder being blurred and the other one not blurred really works well. The chin points to the blurred shoulder so the face really stands out. Artistic!

I love this portrait, DOF is Awesome. Very nice.

    Hi @dracorn,

I use a combination of techniques that I've learned from Youtube videos by Jason Maranto and Shiba Shake's blog. @deathbycannon's tutorial on YouTube has some really great info too.  Here are the links to their tutorials. I hope this information helps smiley

Anything made by @PA_ThePhilosopher's is often an insta-buy and the Ancient Mystical Forest was no exception. I think this render is probably the easiest one I've done in awhile. I loaded the set, placed a wolf in the suggested location, chosed a render preset that came with it, and clicked render.

Thank you for stopping by! Yes, this recent set is definitely plug-and-play. It will get a lot of use in my renders.

So it was suggested in my gallery that I do a closer camera "shot" of the wolf. It turned out very interesting...I like it even though it's not completely converged. It gives the image an interesting effect. Thanks for visiting.

Ooh, love this one! Reminds me a bit of a samoyd as well, which is no surprise if you've ever seen one, they often get called white wolves.

October has flown by! I haven't had much of an opportunity to render lately so I decided to take a Saturday to do fun things.

This particular render was a composite of several things. I used Girl 8 and Allessandro's fox to create my version of a kitsune. I don't like what the wind node did to the top but I didn't really notice the draping weirdness until I changed the shader and was ready to render. By that time, I was tired of tweaking the settings.

Be sure to click on the image to view it full size. Thanks for visiting!
