I haven't gotten any offers for Josie except the usual buy Josie get Josie's ancestresses for free. As you may guess I did not take them up on it.
I've been eyeing the new male character but not sure. I also kind of like the new pc club outfit but reminds me a bit of the set for Genesis 3 male called chunky sweater. Plus why no fits for both gen 8 and gen 3? Easy enough to do.
Hopefully an eyebrow product for the men will be released. I don't want every guy to have the same eyebrows and redz usually have some morphs at least. So far the sale has me resisting it though.
I just can't talk myself into buying Josie 8, in spite of the discount and freebies. The clothing doesn't excite me too much and there is only one hair that seems kind of interesting. I mostly see complaints about her painted brows, painted braces, lack of youthful appearance, etc. I have growing up for G8F, and I'm pretty happy with that. I can fit Genesis 3 hair to G8F OK. Am I crazy to pass up the sale or smart to save the money for something I want more later?
I would have gotten all three of the bundles for free (I have all the base characters but I would get everything else in each bundle as I don't own any of it. And I can't make myself buy it either. Don't know if that's helpful or not.

A very quick doodle of Josie 8 with Super Natural Brows - and I see that I need to adjust the No Brows mask a bit more to completely get rid of the original brows (the line of the original brow also confirms that the brows on some G8F characters is weirdly low - it should properly sit on the arch of the eye socket, not halfway down it). Lighting from the Painters' Light set.
Redz told me she submitted both a male and female version of the Super Natural Brows, and she was surprised Daz didn't release them at the same time. So, yes, there will be an eyebrow product for the men.
This is just NUTS. The earthquake in Mexico, Hurricane Maria- and now, a 6.1 earthquake near Japan. (281 km from Kamaishi) Thank goodness it wasn't closer.
Oh, she IS a cutie. Looks much, much more natural than Josie.
I got J8 last night. I figure $47+ (@65% off) for the clothing, hair, poses, characters, and such for four generations isn't a bad deal.
There is a Hidden morph for the eyelashes. I think it should have been in the shaping tab instead, as an option. I can see those on a face with makeup when the character is wearing "night out" clothes. Definitely not everyday wear. With that hidden morph dialed to 0, you can hide her lashes with the shaping morps if you want to use something like Oh My Lashes instead. Not sure if those morphs came with the starter essentials, or are ported over using Singular Blue's script. (Great freebie, by the way. If you haven't already, you can get it here.)
I dialed in Growing Up for G8, making her about 12 years old or so, and in the viewport she looked really good. But when I rendered it, the face still looked too old. It's like she's wearing thick foundation; her skin looks too smooth and perfect for a child. And as others have said, her lips are too dark. So yes, the skin materials are a big disappointment. I was really hoping to use the skin with GU8. I shut down the computer without bother to render or save the scene, and went to bed. I haven't tried any of the other characters that came with the bundle.
I intend to keep her. I don't want to give back the three free pro bundles. And I think the other products in the bundle are worth what I paid. But J8 is not going to be one of my favorite characters, that's for sure. Though maybe her skin materials will be useful on another figure... who knows?
Mother Nature appears to be really pissed at us... Gee, wonder why? (yeah, that question is sarcasm.)
Thanks, Novica. I used the Expression Smoother at 85% on her. I think it helped give her a more youthful smile.

Isn't the Expression Smoother limited to the expressions in the G8M/G8F Expressions that came out when the respective G8 starter essentials were released? Or does it work to some extent on any of the face morphs?
She's really pretty, by the way. Definitely looks like a teenager.
She looks great, barbult! Which skin texture did you use? I haven't bought Josie 8 either, but I did pick up Growing Up for G8F a few days ago, though haven't had time to play yet. Looks well worth it.

No you're not crazy. I actually bought the pro bundle, and then returned it. I wasn't happy with her skin or her shape, and while the rest of the products in the bundle are good, none stood out enough for me to miss them. They're DOs anyway so they'll turn up on discounts in the future anyway. Besides, the pic you posted of your teen character from GU8 is absolutely perfect, a thousand percent better than Josie - she looks like a real teen, not an aging 90210 actor. If she had been Josie, I would have bought her in a heartbeat.
Also, I'm not on my computer - I'm on my iPad away from home - so I can't check my files, but as for your other question, I haven't seen an update for GU in my smart content and I've been checking.
Has anyone tried out the Rocker Outfit? I was trying to borrow the shoes and for some reason the icon for just the shoes also loaded the top. Did anyone else happen to have this happen? I haven't tested to see if any of the other icons had problems because I wanted to hurry and get my current render going. Has anyone else tried out the outfit and noticed any issues?
By the way, my two cents. I wasn't planning on getting Josie 8. I actually kind have a preference for Teen Josie 6 and I have Growing up so I didn't really see a need. However, VYK Dolly kind of called to me so I decided to go ahead and get her. I was just going to get the base, but I also liked the clothes in the bundle. I was actually figuring out which outfits I wanted and which hair and the total was more than the bundle so I got the bundle. As for VYK Dolly, she's rendering now and I ended up mostly dialing Jose 8 out and I like her much better that way. Oh well.

Yes I have it, I haven't really played much with it, but I think it will do nicely for the world building project I need it for.
Not much enthusiasm for the new Josie here. I didn't get her either. I have the previous Josies and I like them and the clothes and hair that I like from the packs. I agree that the new Growing Up is really nice. Beautiful render, Barbult!
I got some great bargains today in the Mega Fast Grab today - besides the Ancient Egypt Bundle for $5 I got Larsen's beautiful Chateau Blanche for $12. These were both 75% off with a new item. The Chateau looks like it will use a lot of memory but the set comes in eight parts so it doesn't all have to be loaded.
And that's what Teen Josie 8 SHOULD have looked like. Just stunning, Barbult. What skin did you use? It's perfect. I so want to know her dials there cos I'm loving her (tho you probably want to keep her secret LOL)
I bought Jose for the "VYK Dolly for Teen Josie 8" clown like appearance. Did a render with Jose. In something I call get me out of this multi dimentionality! Just experimenting. Next I'm going to add in the clown look
I don't usually post my renders here much, but I thought I'd post what I did with VYK Dolly for Josie 8 since everyone is talking about Josie 8. No one has mentioned VYK Dolly and I think she's a great character with lots of unique makeup options. I did end up dialing most of Josie 8 out of her.
VYK Dolly is the only thing that made me rethink returning Josie LOL. She looks fantastic. She uses G3 skin tho, doesn't she? Josie didn't get her own UV? So I can maybe snap her up for G8 later.
I ended up just buying one hair and none of the other Josie 8 stuff. I added the PC+ item to get the lower price on the pair and used my coupon. I got by with spending less than 3 dollars, so I consider that a win. I did another Growing Up teen, a little older this time, with the new hair.
Too Many Products - Too Little Store Credit
That is Olympia 7's skin, but I used the V3Digitimes Iray Smart Skin Converter on it. I love that product. Even on Iray skins it can make an improvement. The eyes are from one of the G8F models, because I can't get G3F eye materials to look right on G8F. The body is pure G8F with Growing Up. I'm running another render now, so I can't reload the scene to see what dials I dialed. I know I used small amounts of a few G3F heads that I transferred to G8F, and maybe some G8F heads, too. I don't remember. I just fiddled until I got something I liked.

VYK Dolly says she uses G8 Base UVs so I pulled her up in DS and double checked. She is just using the base UVs. I think she looks good without Josie so you could totally get her and use her without Josie 8 if you wanted to and she'll still look really cute. I double checked my settings and my version has Josie 8 dialed out completely and VYK Dolly is completely dialed in on just G8F. I think Josie was only dialed in about 58% or so to start with. I think she's a fun character and I'm looking forward to trying out all of her makeup options.
