Are you running it as the administrator?

  • edited December 1969

Yes, ran every way I could think of. I rebooted the computer and then the install worked. I think I had a hung install somewhere tying up the works. Very strange and no error messages at all - the install just went away...

THANKS for the response - if anyone else has this problem, reboot....

DAZ studio didn't give me any troubles, but I can't install any content, like victoria 4.2 base.
Does anyone has a solution for that?

Try this for installer launching issue where you get that little blank window in Windows 8:

    1. Select the file, right click and select "Troubleshoot compatibility"
    2. Next screen, click on "Try recommended settings"
    3. Next screen, click on "Test the program"

The installer should launch, proceed with the install.

Thank you very much! I will try that. I still have to get used with windows 8. I took me a day to find the desktop. Now I have to to find out where they hid the manual.

    Best regards,

    Bopper

Thx works for me too - must of the time.

I have some problems installing Michael morphs ++ to Poser. Plz see the enclosed file.
The .exe file is in the main folder, so it should work!?

I just recall that I have had this issue before, I think the solution was to just install the daz version...

Is your Poser runtime in your Programs folder? If so that may be the cause. I don't have Win8 so not positive if its even harder to install stuff to the programs folder

Poser pro 2014>Runtime , yes if that is what you mean. I install all the other Daz content in the main folder and it automatically went to distribute it to the runtime folders.

If you're using Poser Pro, the executable is named poserpro.exe rather than poser.exe, which is what that outdated installer is looking for (the problem was fixed in P7sr3). If you really want to install there, which I strongly recommend against, either create a dummy file named poser.exe or choose DAZ Studio as the install application (the same files will be installed, but the installer won't check for poser, exe).

Thx, but to be honest I dont have the overview and understanding to install it in another way. The structure is: main folder D:\Poser pro 2014.... and then there is a subfolder called Runtime, which again have lots of subfolders. As I understand it, one "peace" of content can be spread/distribute out between several runtime subfolders, so if I chose just one of them, it will not work???

Oh, that'll be fine, since it isn't in Program Files.

Thanks for that tip, it seems to have fixed a lot of win8 problems*. For other problems you may find windows complaining about a missing ini file. Installing Daz Studio even if you don't plan to use it will solve those issues.

Ok, checking in from 2016, seeing now that it was ( and still is ) a W8 thing.
