How do I get rid of icons for stuff I've uninstalled?
I've been categorizing stuff in Lost and Found and generally trying to clean up my database. But now after uninstalling some clutter, I have icons for "missing" items in Lost and Found. How do I get rid of them without resetting my database and losing all my categorization work?

Find them in Categories in the Content Library pane, right-click, and select Remove Reference.
That worked great for store content! I found that when a group of icons for uninstalled items showed up together in the right side of that pane, I could select them all and use "Remove Orphaned References" to get rid of them at once, no questions asked.
However, that procedure didn't work for user-created content. Files I saved and later trashed still showed up as missing items in Smart Content. And since the Smart Content icon linked to nothing in the mapped Content Library folder, no orphaned reference showed up there for me to remove!
But I did find I could use the search box at the top of the pane to search for the missing items one by one, and as each showed up in the Search DB category, there I could remove the orphaned reference. So eventually I think I can clean up and fix categories on my entire database without having to start over by deleting and reimporting it.
Thanks for your help! I will add an enhancement request to add "Remove All Orphaned References" to the DB maintenance window.
Which version of DS is this? I thought Remove Orphaned referecnes was gone from 4.9 as the way the database references has changed.
I am using 4.9
Yes, I see the command iss till there. And like you I couldn't get to the category entry to use it from the list in Smart Content. This may be a bug, please open a Technical Support ticket.
