Question about license for 2d renders.

Hi, i'm new here and was intrested in creating a visual novel game. No animations or anything like that, just basic images. anyway i was wondering if i needed a license just to make a small game? i'm a little confused as to what is meant by a 2d render and a 3d mesh....

so if I use daz studio to make, say...a guy fighting an ogre on a castle wall, then render the image. Is that a 2d render, or a 3d mesh because I used 3d models? sorry if this is a total noob question, this is my first foray into these kind of things.

thanks

As long as the game contains only 2D data - stills or animations are both allowed - then the basic EULA is all you need. it's only if there is 3D data from, directly or as a derivative, a Daz store product in the game that you will need additional Game Developer licenses, or may find that the use is not permitted. Your visual novel should be permissable by the sound of it.

2D are renders or images. 3D is a mesh as in a figure or prop.

  • yeah it would just be .jpg images from Daz I would use. so thats ok i guess. thanks for the quick reply.
