newbie here, I think I'm missing something.

I have been working with Daz studio 4.9 for quite a while, I am merely a hobbyist. But I really enjoy it. However, when I'm creating interior scenes, I oftentimes use Sweet Home 3-D, as it exports to OBJ format, and I can easily load it into studio. Unfortunately, I have been unable to apply material to these models. And I'm wondering if there's something that I'm missing somewhere, that would allow me to apply a simple texture type material to these models. You can create textured models in Sweet home 3-D, but I really prefer to do the texturing, in Daz studio. I am thinking that it has something to do with UV sets, but I am not an expert. Please enlighten me. Is there a way, to apply a texture to a OBJ model, when it doesn't want to take one?

I have never heard of the software but its likely the models don't have any UV mapping  - You can check in Daz by selecting your object plus one of the surfaces & looking in UV View  If its blank then there are no UVs

If thats the case then there are various free options you could use to create the UV Maps - Blender - Wings3d - UVMapper -  As I am useless at creating good UVs then I can't say which is best but I have managed to create bad UV maps with all of them so it can't be hard to do :)

I see the Sweet Home 3D has a free option so I downloaded it but its late here so I won't get a chance to look until much later then perhaps I can help more if noone else has a better idea for you
