Multiple Characters

I added a second character to a picture, and he appeared in the figure that was already there. When I tried to separate them, I couldn't get the new character to do anything but move in place.

How do I separate the figures?

(or add another figure the correct way?)

Make certain that the first character is not selected on the Scene tab when adding the second character.

    The scene tab...

I have created several characters and saved them in 'Scene' (for the time being.).

I was so involved in their development that I forgot the obvious...that if I open a new scene, I am opening it over the last.

Also You can rename the Actor in the Scene Tab

This Helps you when you have Genesis (7) and which actor is that exactly.
But if you name them Jack, Jill, Marry, Mark and such, it make is easier.
You can do the same with any item.
You can also make a Null Object and place everything for Jack inside the Null Object, so you know this pair of JeanZ is for Jack and not Jill.

    Oh, the obvious again.

I'm thinking 'Scene' as in 'Save As', rather than the 'Scene' tab. (which is right in front of me, sorry.)

I'm trying to merge a character into a scene next to another character. When I do they appear together (even if I make sure the first figure is not selected in 'Scene' tab.

ADDING MULTIPLE CHARACTERS TO A SCENE: THE SOLUTION (I think.)

For the sake of any other confused newbies who are trying to learn too many things at one time...:

I forgot to use the movement tool to move figure #1 first (Using the tiny arrows on the 'Universal Tool'- not always easy to get used to, especially if one's computer runs on a slower processor.)

This is so that figure #2 (which will be merged into the scene at a fixed location) will not merge into figure #1.

Then I forgot to use the 'Merge' command (under 'File'), which- sadly- I had already used and should've remembered.

So once figure #1 is moved aside from the fixed location (it was in when it loaded), 'Merge' can be used to merge figure #2 into the scene, apart from figure #1

Simple. A child could...maybe do it.

So why was it so difficult for ME?

    Hmm...Yes...'Why' indeed?

So THAT is how one adds multiple characters to a scene. ...and avoids driving the Forum geniuses crazy.

Thanks for all your help, Guys. Really! Superbowl rings for you all!

Amazing that this was posted in 2013 and I just needed it today when I was trying to load 2 figures into the scene and they kept blending into one.  Thanks for the tip!  Never too late to learn.
