Importing obj file issue

I am having a problem getting an obj file I made in Sketchup to load up on the viewport grid. Is there a method to get it to move to it? I know it is probably a stupid question. I have tried loading it as a .dae file and it doesn't like that at all. Not sure why it won't load in right place.
Any help appreciated thanks.

Is it just loading out of scene or isn't loading at all?
It is loading but so far off the viewport grid I can't get it to move to it. I built the item as a prop for a friend of mine's model so I need it to load in right place. Already know I am going to have to scale it down. I built it to scale with his model and going to use same scale settings he uses. Annoyance is even scaling down I think I see the grid as this little tiny plane[?]
Centring an item that is modelled off-centre:
Thank you. I know it was here somewhere but if you don't know how the original post was worded hard to find. As for the scale I exported his model out at Daz scale and then imported it into sketchup so scale should be ok. My friend generally models fighter craft but built a carrier for them. I was modeling up one of the escorts . Why he has two scale pose settings. One so you can do deck scenes and the other for large scenes that don't involve closeups and such.
I had the selection order wrong in my previous post, edited to fix it.
Thanks. About to test it out. Will let you know if I have any issues. For now it will be a static prop but will be slowy turning it into a fully rigged model with moving parts as I get better at doing more.
Not working but I think it is more my error than your what to do. I got her to scale down to the gird and such. Is there a way to reset the scales in paramter tab to 0?
0 would be reduced to a point. A quick way to reset is to hold down alt (opt for Mac) and click on the slider
Perfect. Never never put a project on the backburner to do textures for a year. Creates more headaches than if I had just kept rolling with it lol.
