Oh and you can't get stonemasons freebies from his site - the links are there but nothing happens when you click on them :(
NWM, seems his site isn't Firefox/Waterfox friendly - links work in Chrome :)
Not an entry. Made for the RRRR.

Not sure the render is worth looking forward to.... But I couldn't wait to get something rendered so here we go.
I chose the Village Courtyard and I'm more than happy with it... except for my addiction to Bryce means that once I've imported it, I have to manually re-apply every single bump map (and transparency map for the leaves which I actually haven't done yet)... This was no easy task as the model is much more complex than even the promo pics show and there are many many components to individually select and then clicking in to the mat lab and set a figure in the bump map channel... but hey, worth the effort as the model looks great even in the quick render I've done here.
Thanks again Stonemason, it's really appreciated... I hate to think how much of my life I'd gladly dedicate to performing this task over and over if were lucky enough to win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prize and have a fist full of your models to convert all at once.
So just to make it clear;
This is not an entry.

I've already submitted two images, so this two are just for fun:

Thank you for your comment. If there's one thing about the RRRR it's the need to be imaginative!

Thank You :)
Thank You :)
I was actually bursting with pride over my latest entry then saw what followed immediately (yours!) and was promptly deflated.
The best image is always the one you wish you'd thought of first! :)
kmw
You should be proud. You have alot of characters in your shot...which is something i rarely have the patience to attempt.
There are alot of interesting stories going on in your shot.

This is amazing! The lighting and colors are brilliant. If this is a non-entry...I am scared to see your official one! ;)
With so many stunning 'non-entries' (not to mention the quality of official entries)...it makes me want to remove my official submissions and start over.
Second Entry
Title:
In The Air Tonight
Software:
Carrara 8.1
Photoshop CS5
Stonemason Products Used:
Urban Future 4: Street Level
Urban Sprawl 2 (small props)
The Backstreets (small props)
WOW!!! I'm not sure you have enough stuff in that scene. %-P For curiosity's sake. How long does it take to render something like that? And how long does it take to build something like that? WOW!
Thanks!
The render itself took just over 11 hours. Postwork about another hour. Setting up the scene took me about 20 hours, but that doesn't include the few dozen pose and character presets I had created from previous projects. Add those in and it probably took me around 30 to 40 hours in total.

Nice! I figured as much. I have Carrera, but haven't delved into it much yet. I'm still figuring out DS and think I should have it down a bit better before heading off into yet another software. Now I'm looking forward to it!
Don't hesitate to jump into Carrara. Personally, I think it is much easier to use than DAZ Studio. From my perspective, it is easier to achieve the effects I'm envisioning in my mind and easier to physically arrange a scene and gives me a lot more creative freedom. The main benefit is that it is NOT figure centric, but is instead scene centric, though you can still do anything to a figure in Carrara that you could do in DAZ Studio. Plus, if you need to tweak something, the modeling tools are right there (though they require a bit more effort to learn). Though I have both Poser and DAZ Studio, I haven't touched either of them in a few of years.
...this is really nice.
