Good software to make SWF animation out of image sequence?

TryhardTryhard Posts: 166

Can anyone recommend me anything?

- I have 360 PNG files

- I want to create an animation out of them

- Retain transparent background and image quality.

- I want to export it as SWF because GIF is too pixelated and loses to many colors.

Currently trying Photoshop  and Animate CC but I cant get exactly what I want.

    Blender allows that.

It has loads of other stuff, so google a tutorial on it before opening the interface. :)

    EDIT

a little long-winded, but it works

Keep in mind that SWF is blocked by most people, or their browser no longer supports it. You will only be able to reach a very small audience with SWF.

Does that affect how people can see my works on deviantArt?

If you display swf there, then probably. If you give me an address, I can check. This browser I'm currently on blocks swf, and I can also check with another browser that simply no longer supports it.

From what I understand, Apple also doesn't support Flash. So anyone with a mac won't be able to see it. Flash is a dying format, unfortunately.

This is what it looks like on Windows, with flash blocked:

And this is what it looks like on Linux with flash enabled, but no longer supported:

As others have correctly noted, SWF is no longer a viable option for motion graphics. You might create an embedding with both SWF and a fallback to OGG or some other small-footprint movie file. The problem is that not every browser on every platform supports the same kinds of video, so even here, you probably need to provide a couple different formats.

Here's a page out of thousands on the Web that talks about the process:

    https://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/quick-tip-html5-video-with-a-fallback-to-flash--net-9982

DeviantArt gets a lot of mobile traffic, so definitely you need something that is mobile friendly. Though Android users are the majority, there's still a lot of iOS folks out there, and unless they browse with Flash-enabled software (unusual) your image clip will not be visible.

  • flash is very out-of-date. there's been more security holes in flash player than Swiss cheese. i would recommend using HTML5 instead. it's the modern replacement to flash

I see. I dont think it really matters though since dA doesnt support HTML5 as of yet.

This is worth knowing since I might use it someday..

I can see it in Firefox under Linux if I click on the empty sqaure.  The rotation is good, but the trim on her sleeves and bodice flickers when she rotates...

DA supports embedding YouTube clips into journals (and also profiles, I think), and while they don't automatically play, most people object to that anyway. For quality, you should upload H-264/MP4 videos to YouTube, and allow them to create the various versions to support visitors' browsers. There are some freeware and paid programs for converting a numbered list of output images to video, but if you don't mind doing a little experimenting, you can readily do it with ffmpeg, a free download from the .org Web site of the same name. Here's one of many pages with the command-line option on how to do it:

    http://video.stackexchange.com/questions/7903/how-to-losslessly-encode-a-jpg-image-sequence-to-a-video-in-ffmpeg

(I see someone suggests converting to Matroska, with the .mkv container format. Just use mp4, which YT likes better)

Yeah I believe this is caused by the fabric being too close to the surface underneath. Unlike the trims on the skirt, I forgot to increase the preasure and particle distance when I was doing it in Marvelous Designer.
