how to fix spots/missing color

in New Users
I am newto daz and 3d modeling, so sorry if this is a dumb question.
When I have loaded clothes to a character I will have missing spots of color, for instance a big toe is sticking through the boot, Bones top hat will have a spot with hair poking through.
I can't seem to fix this.
Can somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong, or how to correct this and be able to fill in the missing material.

It was a pretty common problem at one time, so much so that it actually earned its own name: pokethrough. Nowadays it is somewhat less common in DAZ Studio with the advent of smoothing modifiers/collision and "fit to". Nevertheless it will still crop up occasionally, especially if using extreme shapes and poses, or trying to use a garment designed for one figure on another. When all else fails, here are some of the old tricks used back in the "olden days":
1. Hide the offending piece of the model. This works if the clothing or shoes completely cover the offending part anyway. If you have boots, hide the figures feet (turn off visibility). Poof! Problem solved.
2. Use a D-Form to pull the area of the garment out from the models surface. Works sometimes if the pokethrough isn't too extreme.
3. Size the garment slightly larger. Again, it depends on the degree of the problem.
4. Shrink the model. As above, only in reverse.
5. Paint it over in postwork. (In a 2d image editing program)
There were also lots of other creative tricks employed, like posing the figure so the pokethrough wasn't showing in the camera.
There are also products available in the store to convert clothing from one figure to another, if that is the source of the problem.
The first line of defense is to try applying a smoothing modifier with collision, and then play with the number of iterations to see if you can solve the problem that way. Here again, success will depend upon the seriousness of the issue..
