Shader problem

Just bought this product.

I can't get the logo badges to appear on the shirt.  They're a shader, rather than a material, if that makes a difference.

Any idea why?

  • Are they not showing in the viewport or have you actually tried rendering?  Not all shaders for Iray show up in the viewport, but become visible when you render the item.  It depends on the shader and how it was created.  I don't have that particular product so I can't test it out to see if I have any problems with it.

  • Also, note that if you want to apply a shader, you must also select the material on the object that you want to apply the shader to.

What's happening is that ordinary material presets are for one particular object, and include the names of the relevant materials on that object. Shaders don't include a material name, but this means you must specify which material (or multiple materials) on the object you want to affect.

I have not, I'll try and see.  Thanks.

I know, thanks.  The colour options for the shirts are Shaders too, and I got them to work.  It looks like the badge just doesn't appear in the viewport.

    I suppose I should've checked that...  >_>

  • I thought the badge was said to be a decal, in which case it's a separate item (presuambly parented to the shirt) that you would need to select. It would also be Iray only in that case.

Ah, if it's a decal then that's a different problem from a shader issue.  I don't have the set and have worked with decals yet.  However, from my understanding, it should apply to the shirt like a parented prop, I think.  In which case, you should see it as soon as it's applied.  You would need to look for an icon of the badge you want in the list of items for the shirt.

Richard would decals be listed as decals under the materials tab or in the props tab?

A decal should appear as an item in the Scene pane.
