Here Is The latest version of my image.

I went back to my old light setup except i added a soft box behind the camera. I also tweaked the skin a little to add more color. Also added a background.

I am not too sure about the background because the light seems a little of in direction.

I am trying to figure out what is causing the show weirdness on the lower center of the subject.

By the way, you can cut down the harsh shadows of the Sun light by increasing its size (and reducing its gain to compensate). For example. size at 20 and gain at 0.0025 should give you the equivalent intensity to size 1 and gain 1, but with nice soft shadows. A larger light source gives softer shadows in nature and in Luxrender.

My appollogies for bumping this thread, but I must thank Hiro for this information. It is the best way to make soft shadows with sunlight, daz studio, and reality / lux render that I have come across.

    Thanks Hiro!

    C.

I'm pretty new to using the Lux render and was hoping you guys could help me out. It took lux more than four hours for it to render and I'm not sure that is normal. I do have it set to the default settings after its installed so I’m not sure where I need to make changes? Is there a way to speed it up?

It's very much a case of "how long is a piece of string?" with Luxrender, but for my work I wouldn't consider 4 hours excessive at all. Other people would consider 4 hours a short render time!

Whether 4 hours is unreasonable for a particular render is very difficult to say without knowing all the details. Speed depends on the size of the render, the lighting set up, whether there are very reflective materials, volumes, areas in shadow, etc. All those things will affect the render time.

Use of the Refine Brush will help clear up problem areas once most the scene has cleared up, but long render times are pretty much a fact of life with Luxrender. As I have my computer on all day at the weekends when I do my 3D work, and I just let the renders run in the background while I'm doing other things (on and off the computer). It's a workflow I've got used to and the long render times don't really bother me any more.

Its about the size of banditmans image and like I said i just think its a bit odd one can render the image in about ten minuets the other has now almost 18 hours and will probably take more to render.
