Dynamic Clothing Control tutorial? (I can't figure out how to use it)

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to Daz, just been messing around with it for about a week and I really love it! I just purchased the Dynamic Clothing Control plugin after watching some videos and being amazed by what I saw. Unfortunately, I have no clue how to actually use it, and I'm a bit surprised that the product doesn't seem to come with any documentation at all to help get me started?

So here's where I'm at. I installed the plugin and I now have access to the Dynamic Clothing panel inside DS. Now, I understand that this only works with "dynamic" clothing, is that correct? It can't be applied to any old costume? That's fine if correct, I'm just making sure. Does that include products from this freebies page? http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com./

If so, how in the world do I install them? I don't seem to be able to install them with the Daz Install Manage because the file type is incorrect. And the .zip installation tutorial on that website seems outdated, the file structure it shows for installation seems to have changed since that video was made.

Anyway, can someone point me in the right direction? I just want to get one piece of dynamic clothing loaded in here so that I can mess around with it. How do I do that? Is it only compatible with "Dynamic" clothing options from the Daz store, or will those freebies work?

  • The foldrs from inside the Content folder in the zip need to be merged with the matching foldrs in your Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library folder, assuming you are using the default folders.

  • Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. However I still can't seem to get this to work. So let's see. Say I want to install the Flared Dress from this page: http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/FreebieDownload01.php

I download it, open up the Zip and get the content folder. I take the stuff inside the contents folder (data, people and runtime) and I copy that into my My Library folder, as you specified. All that seems easy enough.

The problem is that I still can't find the dress anywhere inside Daz Studio. I'm checking through every file in the Content Library and I don't see it anywhere. Thanks SO MUCH to anyone willing to help me here :)

I'm not on my DS PC at the moment so can't be 100% sure,  but I think you need to look in Content Library - whichever you installed it to - People - Victoria 4 - Dynamic Clothing - Flared Dress. Most of those freebies were made for V4, but you can usually get them to drape onto Genesis or G2F or G3F.

  • Since it's manually isntalled it won't show in Smart Content, or the Products or Categories lists in the Content Library pane. You need to look in the Content Library under Daz Studio Formats>My Library>People>Victoria 4>Dynamic Clothing>FlaredDress.

Note that if you are using the clothing on a Genesis figure it won#'t AutoFit to convert - instead you will need to use an animated drape:

    1. Open the Timeline pane if it isn't
    2. The arrow on the Timeline should be at the far left
    3. Pose the figure to fit inside the clothes
    4. Move the arrow on the Timeline to the right
    5. Apply the final pose - don't worry that it now sticks through the clothing
    6. Drag the arrow on the Timeline back to the left
    7. Make sure the figure is still fitted inside the clothing
    8. In the Dynamic Clothing pane set the drape type to Animated, then drape the clothing
  • Woohhoo, I found it! Thanks Richard! Everything works perfectly now. And thanks for the tips on draping too!

Hi, I seem to have a problem with #3 "Pose the figure to fit inside the clothes" with Optitex Elephant bell bottoms for V4 (http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/FreebieDownload10.php). I have a G2F figure. I drag the pants over to the figure and it doesn't seem to stick to it. I then try to change the pants parent to the G3, it won't move with the figure and stays still. I tried to parent it to figure's body parts e.g.. waist and left thigh. It will move but as if it's a weight has been attached to the body part, not as a clothing item. Further on, I set Dforce to Dynamic and Dynamic Surface Add-on. When I hit Simulate I get "No Object to Simulate" and suggestions to either add a dForce modifier or to a dForce compatible object. What am I doing wrong? Thank you

Update. I managed to get the pants to "stick" to the figure. It had a bell bottom Rig that I parented to G2F

First off, dynamic isn't the same as dforce or conforming. The pants you linked to are dynamic which means they have no bones or rigging and won't bend or fit to the figure. To use them, you need to set up an animation timeline going from base pose to another pose and run the dynamic clothing simulation (window - panes/tabs - dynamic clothing - drape)

Thank you FSM. Let me try your suggestion.

Meanwhile, I think I found a lenghty workaround for it. I exported the pants as an obj, then imported it and conformed to the figure using transfer utility and seem to have worked. The only problem now is the intersected parts of the pants have been exported as a joint mesh, so lower part morphs like a skirt. I guess I need to do some remodeling.
