Rigging two objects to move together

I am working on a car model in Hexagon, which I intend to rig in DS. One of the things I want is to have various doors open, and the front wheels pivot as if turning a corner. Is there a way to make both front tires pivot together on one dial? Likewise, I'd like to rig a fold down seat so the bottom moves laterally and the top pivots flat at the same time. How do you link movements in two axes on one dial?

  • You can create a Pose Control.

    • First of – make sure your figure is in its “Zero pose”. This is important before you do anything.
    • Afterwards pose it the way you wish it to work with one dial. So for example, if you want a dial that opens two doors at once, you now open these doors to their fullest. Your figure needs to be posed now as if you already "used that dial to max".
    • Go into the Property Hierarchy tab, select the figure and choose “ERC Freeze…” from the right-click menu.
    • Choose the Node in which you wish for your Pose Control to appear in.
    • Select “Create New…” to create a new pose Control Property.
    • In the “Create New Property” window select “Float” as your Property Type.
    • As the name, choose a descriptive and unique name for the Pose Control.
    • As the label, input a name that will describe the purpose of the control.
    • As the path, input Pose Controls if this is the first Pose Control for the figure.
    • Leave Hidden NO, Locked NO, Animatable YES and Auto-Follow NO in their default setup. You can always modify these later if you change your mind.
    • As the type, choose “Modifier/Pose”.
    • If you wish to, you can setup the colors and icon/card graphics for the control.
    • Leave Mapping Attributes as NO.
    • Leave Modulo as NO and Use Limits as YES.
    • Adjust the Float Attributes accordingly to your needs for the Pose Control. (Default at 0, Max at 1)
    • Leave additional options unchecked and hit Create.

    After that click Accept.
Your Pose Control should be located in the Parameter Tab in the Node of the figure you chose. Using that slider you will now be able to open the trwo doors at once.

If you need more controls, just repeat the process with different poses.
Remember it is important to go back to Zero Figure Pose between each ERC Freeze, just in case.

Thanks Thomas. When I get done modeling it, I'll check your guide.

Thomas Windar thanks man that worked a charm on some front car wheels. Thanks to Google and you I had no problem doing my first ERC freeze.
