LIGHTS AND RENDER ISSUE

Hi guys,
I really cannot understand how lights and render work.
My issue is:
- I set up my scene (in this case is just a spaceship), and I need it with the alpha channel to composite later with my video.
- I set up the lights using "smooth shaded" and I can see that the lights are working beacuse tha shadows on the object change.
- When I try to render, I change environment mode to "scene only", draw ground to "off", but my object is all black; if I leave Environment mode to "doom and scene" it seems that my lights setup doenst work.
- Tried to search some tutorial but they are all about rendering something witht he background.
Can you help me to set my render setting or link a tutorial that teach how to render just the object with alpha channel?
Thank you for your help and forgive my bad english

What settings do you have on your lights?
Also check the Tone Mapping settings, there might not be enough light entering the camera if you are using the default settings.
Hi guys, thanks for answering.
In the photo you can see the three lights I usded and the tone mapping.
Are those Uberenvironment settings? You don't need UE2 with Iray. (UE2 is only for 3Delight, it will block the Iray dome.)
The lights have very low brightness. 1500 Lumens is only equivalent to a table lamp. 50,000 for a large room, 10,000,000 for the Bat signal searchlight.
Your tone mapping settings for Iray are okay, but as Prixat says, those are the wrong kind of lights for Iray. They are for 3Delight. Replace them with Iray lights. You can either add them yourself from the Lights panel, or apply them from a purchased package.
