Is it possible to save a primitive as a prop in Daz?

Asking as I never had a need to save one before, but I now have that need. Especially when I need to use more than one.

    Yes, either save as a scene subset and let DS auto geenrate the asset files or more reliably File>Save as>Suport Assets>Scene Assets or Figure Prop Asset.
