Using transparent alpha info for textures

Hi All,

How do I use a png's transparency to texture a model?  Mainly I just want to add a png to a plane. Thanks for the help

You just add it to the surface channel if there is a texture on it and not jsut a black and white map. or if you just want it to be transparent then add it to the opacity channel and adjust the strength.

  • OK I create a plane, go to the surfaces tab, click the opacity tab and add a png and I get the png attached. If I add it to the diffuse tab I get the diffuse attached. What's lacking?

    png.png
    700 x 525 - 261K
    diffuse.png
    700 x 525 - 381K
  • PNG alphas don't always work - I would use a separate mask image, black for the ground and white for the figure, in the opacity channel - most image editors should let you make that using the transparency as a selection.
