Glad you all like it. Wanted to show the softer side of Clarke, which is still mighty strong! She is woman, hear her roar! LOL

    Garrett for M8

Here's a really quick render of Faber's Garrett for M8 while he's a "still new" release today. If you miss him, remember there's a catch-up sale sometime this month. Not sure if they do one mid-month and at the end or just at the end. Can't remember. Anyhow, this guy has some incredible textures! I will play with him more tomorrow. He reminds me so much of my hero Brett in my Midwest series. Mmm mmmmm!

    Lion of the Desert

Here he is as "El Lawrence," in honor of one of my favorite movies, Lawrence of Arabia. (Click for a bigger version)

I didn't like how autofit was wonky on that pouch, so I used the Liquify tool in Photoshop to fix it. Works very well!

  • Looks really good.  I love his little smirk around the mouth.  It works.  What outfit is that?  I don't recall seeing that outfit before.

Thanks. That's Desert Pathfinders for G2M by Luthbellina. I would love to see more historical outfits like this.

What did you use for the background ?

Here's the original from Unsplash. All of their stuff is in the Creative Commons. Someone was carrying their dog through the desert, which kind of broke the mood so I made a few "adjustments," LOL

    Shift Art Tutorials

For those interested in learning post work, I came across this incredible site through a Facebook Ad of all things: https://shiftart.com/

They have some great step by step articles here, and they give away this PDF with five lighting tricks in Photoshop that are actually very good (of course, you have to give your email address)

Afterward, they'll send you an offer for 10 lighting tutorials and then an offer to join the membership part of the site. The lighting bundle is a great sneak peek at what the membership is like. I was very impressed with the step by step tutorials. There are videos and written portions with screenshots of the layers and how to do things. Some even provide the original working files so you can follow along. I have learned more in a few weeks on this site than I have in many years of poking around in Photoshop, and I've been using that program for nearly two decades. Until I got into digital art, I was mainly just cropping, resizing and doing minor retouches. This site shows how to really get into all kinds of cool lighting effects and photo compositing. Worth a look, and I'm not affiliated with them. I'm just a happy customer. They post new tutorials every week and have over a hundred already on the site plus monthly contests and a private FB group.

I made these following along with two of the tutorials in the lighting bundle, Dark Forest and Day to Night at Bag End. I used Ron's brushes in both of them.

  • Very cool render, Llynara

Thank you all! I have posted this here before, but was surprised I hadn't put it in the gallery. Retouched it a little and uploaded here. Today is the 16th anniversary of 9-11. In honor of all those who have fallen in that tragedy as well as the ones unfolding now:

    Remembrance

"You are not lost, but remain forever in our hearts.
You are not forgotten, but remembered and missed."

    ~Kimberly Gordon

This piece was inspired by an incredible song called "The Eternal Rest of Ronin."

Playing with Marshian's new Rim Light Rig for Iray. I love it! The outfit is for a V4. I fitted it with Wear Them All to a G3F and then fitted to Fara, who is a G8. I reshaded with Mec4D's shaders. (a list of everything I used in two posts is here.)

Trying some different configurations of the lighting and postwork:

    Moondance #1

I used the Iray plane behind her, but need to adjust the way the lights are coming through the veil (that's Jepe's new product.) I did use Marshian's shaders on it too. I used one glow emitter from Fabiana's alter glow near her face, and then some postwork lighting. I think on the next run through, I'll try the spotlight rig in front.

    Moondance #2

I added the spotlights in front of her, but placed far back from the camera to give "just enough" light. I used pink lights instead of dark blue and only shaded the back of the veils with the translucency shaders (There are material zones on both sides.) I turned down the luminance on the planes right behind the veil, added a glass floor and did the postwork differently.

    Moondance #3

I decided I liked the bluish color scheme more, so added a blue paint overlay

Oooh - I really like how that turned out!

  • The material looks so very sheer.  Great shading.

  • LlynaraLlynara Posts: 4,770

Thanks! I'm very happy with how that came out. I will definitely be using Marshian's Rim Light Rig a whole lot more in renders. I'm so happy he made one for Iray. I missed the old one a lot when I moved from 3Delight.

On another note, a friend of mine suggested I put my artwork into a fantasy calendar. That might be a fun project. I've done family calendars before, a while ago. I certainly have all the tools I need to do one, and there's still time. One of the first things I learned on the computer as a teenager (back in the dark ages) was desktop publishing. I get my geekiness from my dad, and we had some of the first home PCs (I remember the PC Jr, it ran on floppy disks- no hard drive!) I have to get a few other things off my plate and then I'll look at it. Honestly, it sounds less daunting than book covers (though I'm still doing those), but I could be wrong.

  • Beautiful renders Kim, I especially like the hobbit hole landscape, very pretty.

  • LlynaraLlynara Posts: 4,770

Thanks, Deanna! That hobbit one isn't a render. It's one of the lessons over at Shift Art. I used an existing photo of that place and followed along with the tutorial, so I can't claim that one at all. Same with the Dark Forest I learned a ton though. I'm really loving Shift Art.

    Tenera Morphing Armor

This is a really cool set for G2F which autofits well to G3F. Trying to get it onto G8F is kind of a nightmare, so I stuck with GypsyAngel's Maret for G3F. What a knockout! I put her in the i13 Greek Arena and reshaded the armor with Mec4D shaders. I also used Marshian's Rim Light Rig Iray for a subtle effect. (Click for bigger pic.)

  • That's really gorgeous Llynara!

  • LlynaraLlynara Posts: 4,770

Thanks! The Mec4D shaders really made this pop. I used the "Beaten Bronze" from PBS Volume 3 on that. I'm so glad I bought that set. I have all three, and the third is a merchant resource, so I thought it repeated some of the others. It doesn't. There are some really cool things in there that aren't in the other two, which have a lot as well. Her stuff is top notch!

  • Love the mech4D shaders and they look fantastic on this, great render!

    Trousseau for V4

This is a very nice older dress that's in today's flash sale. It's very versatile, with several different looks. The main dress is dynamic, and works just fine in VWD. It's not high poly either. This is just a quick, static drape on a V4. I'll do it on a V7 or V8 next, and play with the scene a bit more. (Consider this a rough draft, lots to fix.) The dress comes with a choker, but it didn't look right, even on the V4, so I took it off. The head band is okay but looks really dated. I'd prefer flowers in her hair instead. For $1.26, I'm not complaining. (Click and zoom in for more details. The lace on the dress renders very well in Iray.)

Jepe's Bedding Poses and Props Gothic Edition

I love Jepe's products. They are so well made and very versatile. Here's a test render I did when M8 came out (which is why his nails look strange here- I think they must've fixed them later.) That's P3D Duffy for V8 with him.

Next up: Darwin's new character, Jeroyn. He's finally out! Woohoo!

  • Great render Llynara.  Many couples poses aren't 'just right' because the characters aren't really looking at each other, but you did a great job with yours.

    Jeroyn for G3M and G8M

Okay, let's take a walk on the wild side with the Pumpkin King, or should I say, "Punkin'" King? Darwin's newest character has amazing makeup options and gorgeous skin. I'm going to do some more "normal" looking renders of him, but this was too much fun! I wanted to do fire, but had to settle for flares as the fire wasn't coming out right and driving me nuts!
