DAZ Crashing a LOT lately

Howdy folks.
I have been having issues with DAZ Stuido lately. I am using the current stable build (not a beta). I've been using that build for a long time. Never had problems with it. Windows 10 high-end gaming laptop, 8 GB 980M nvidia card, 24 GB RAM, i7 processor. DAZ has been fine until maybe a month or two ago.
Since then, I am getting a lot of crashes with it. This seems to be connected with Smart Content sometimes -- i.e., I go to search for something in smart content and DAZ just hangs - I get the blue 'thinking' circle and it never goes away. The only thing I can do at this point is to end-task. Which I might not mind so much but then, after ending the task, I cannot get DAZ to start up again without a complete PC reboot. When I try to restart, DAZ gets to the part about 'connecting to CMS' in the startup screen, and never gets any farther.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and, if so, if there is a solution to it. It's becoming extremely frustrating. I just spent like 15 minutes working on a pose and right as I went to save it -- crash. And even that would not be so bad but to have to reboot the whole computer over again every time DAZ crashes... I never had this happen until recently, so I am not sure why it is doing this.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like a Win 10 issue, probably instigated by an update. I had similar issues after an update with Win 10. If you have Win 10 Pro, you should select defer updates in your settings.
Well I guess I could select that, but there is no way to know a priori which update will cause this and which one will fix it. So being able to defer updates (which I can't, since I have Home, not Pro) would require me to have precognitive abilities... which I don't. ;)
This same thing has been happening to me. I'll get the blue spinning circle and it doesn't go away. And the only way I can get it to work again is to re-start the PC. Just like you. It maybe started 4-6 weeks ago. It happened to me yesterday. I had been using DS for a little while and then I clicked on one of the categories and you know the rest...
I sometimes wonder if it isn't some kind of unannounced windows update. Everytime this happens it takes my PC longer than usual to start up when I reboot. I will get the black screen with the spinning dots, and it goes away and then it comes back and finally after some minutes I'm back at my desktop.
I had to reinstall some of my software to fix Win 10 issues. I would try that, but save your Daz Library and content. On one of my PC's, I had to reinstall Win 10. The anniversary update killed it! Hope this helps!
using win 7 and having the same issue
I tried killing the postgresql processes in the Task Manager but although that did let DAZ start up (it got past the loading CMS part of the start up), when the startup finished, DAZ told me it had no content library. Again the only way to deal with this was a restart.
I tried that too.
It happened to me again last night. I had clciked off my figure because I wanted to look at the Environmental category in Smart Content. ALL was selected and I switched to Environmental before the spinning dial stopped and then nothing seemed to be working anymore. I had to close DS and restart the PC before I could use the program again.
At one point, I thought this might be caused by my anti-virus, but I have allow DS and the database to have access, but it hasn't cured this issue.
I use Windows 7 and have this same issue with DIM. Hangs at connecting to CMS.
Never had this issue so far, but then again I also don't automatically log onto Daz Connect. I mostly spend my time disconnected. So I can't help wonder if this could be a key factor, in which case it's probably more related to your network connection (Daz Connect trying to, well, connect) than the OS or computer itself. Just a theory of course.
Doesn't just happen with Connect, although it sometimes does happen with that. In fact today, allw as fine and then I tried to log into connect and DAZ locked up.
Rest of the network was fine at the time though.
Sounds more like an anti-virus or video card driver problem. I have Windows 10 and DAZ Studio on 5 year old laptop with all Windows 10 updates and no such problem.
The one consistant problem is that in the Content Library folders icon often don't get drawn until I mouse over them.
