It does sound like something weird like that don't it?
I have a clue. I took one of my scenes that was 26.241 Mg in size and which took 9+ hours to load and saved it as a sub-scene. I then opened a new scene and inseeted that saved sub-scene and saved that as a scene and the scene went down to 3.371 Mg in size. So, maybe I did / do have reality hidden nodes. I don;t know what they are but how do I find them and how do I get rid of them?
The method you used works.
If you have this same issue, The problem is supposedly the result of having an old reality plugin installed. Since the program has no uninstaller you have to remove it manually. I admit I'm skeptical personally.
I used to own reality but removed it years ago, and still oddly enough the problem appears from time to time. Probably whenever I Reinstall something where it is contained.. It also has polluted a lot of my old saves.
To remove them, you can open and save as scene subset like you did. My comptuer will crash if I try to delete them manually
Show hidden nodes is an option in the triple line menu in the paramenters tab. If you see reality nodes in your file you have this problem. If you have it, you have to remove the reality script and resave your files using the save as scene subset.
You were 100% correct -- that is exactly what my problem was ... thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!
The next question is where did they come from because I did not intentionally put them there and how do I ensure that they do not show up again?
