Dialogue syncing basics

Hi all,

I am currently playing around with the 30-day trial, but am about to take the plunge and purchase my first character. Not sure yet if it will be Gen 2 or 3. Before I make that choice, I would like to confirm what I will need to sync mouth movement with imported, pre-recorded dialogue (mp3, aiff, etc). In case it's relevant, I use Mac Yosemite 10.10.

* My primary use of Daz3D will be close-ups of faces rather than full body combined with imported dialogue, which I am assuming is possible. Please correct me if I am wrong!

* Does the basic, free version of Daz3D allow dialogue syncing without plug-ins? If not, what are the simplest / easy plug-ins? (The only one I have seen is aniMate, but are there others?)

* Will Genesis 2 and 3 allow all characters to sync mouth movement and imported dialogue?

I realize this question has probably been addressed in various ways throughout the forums, but I am a brand newbie and want to be absolutely sure I am clear before making any purchases.

Thanks very much for any help!

  • LipSync is in the 32 bit version of DS but not the 64, so you would load your figure, use LipSync to match the speech, then save (as a pose preset probably). Repeat for any other characters, then load into the 64 bit version of DS for adding additional content and rendering (to an image sequence so you can then add the sound track(s) in a video editor). I'm not sure what 30-day trial you mean - AniMate 2?

In principle, if you have a .dmc file for the figure you can use it with LipSync.
