Guns and Girls poses and props don't seem to work

Hi Gang:

I'm Geordie, a 57 yo - none-technical new user of Daz 3 4.9.  Recently bought the above item [Guns and Girls poses and props] and would like to know what am I doing wrong or not doing correctly.  I have my model Gen 7 Karen.  Tried double clicking the above package poses and nothing happens, or if I chose a prop, it doesn't go into her hand by rather beside it.  So what's the deal I have to play catch the prop in the pose controls.  I've noticed this for a number of items as poses.  Some work great and some are frustrating me.  Please any help would be appreciated, but please don't start firing off a lot of tech or software questions at me.  I only figured out how to change costume's colours and hair styles two days ago. Cheers and many thanks

Can you please post a link to the item?

Hi mjc 1016.  Sorry for not responding right away.  It's Thursday morning and I'm getting my kit ready for tomorrow as Friday is our "Memorial Day" up here in Canada.  I won't blame the manuf bc it's probably a simple thing I overlooked.  Is this link helpful.  Please advise and thank you very much for any assistance you can offer. Ta:)

  • The poses are for Victroia 4, not Genesis 3 Female, so they will not work well and the prop poses will not line up with the hands, even if the model being posed is in the same world position as the guns the poses were made for.

The problem, or at least most of it, is that the set was made for a much older version of the figures.  They were originally for Victoria 4 and you are applying them to Victoria 7 (yeah, I know you said Karen 7, but they both use the same base mesh, Genesis 3 Female and are the same 'generation'),  As such, things aren't going to line up exactly, for the prop loading nor are the poses going to work without tweaking/conversion.  There have been many rigging changes from the generation 4 figures (Victoria 4) and the generation 7 (Genesis 3) so the poses aren't directly usable.

Also, you normally have to select the character before you try to apply the pose. Since you see no reaction at all, is it possible that you did not select the character in the scene tab, but only double clicked the pose?

Normally, when applying a pose made for V4 to a Genesis 3 Female character, the result looks awfully twisted. smiley

  • Hi Bee:

Okay, that seems to make more sense now.  So for future reference like in nursing, the right drug, to the right person in the right dose.  Right Figure, Right Gen, Right pose pack. Thanks again for clearing this up. Cheers:)

I've made an example - here I have loaded all four generatios - V4, G1, G2 and G3. I have used a pose for V4. I selected V4 in the scene tab, double clicked the pose, and it worked. Then I did the same for the other 3 girls. As you can see, the V4 pose can be used on G1 and G2; only the hands and feets need adjustment.

G3 looks very weird, because she doesn't accept the poses of the earlier generations well. The same thing happens if you want to apply G3 poses to the earlier generations:
